Biographical Reflections of Pastor Tyrone M. Thomas
Born on October 9, 1971, in Baltimore, Maryland, he is the twelfth child of Herbert and Tillie Thomas. Elder Thomas was educated in the Baltimore City Public School System and graduated with honors from Northern High School in 1990. In May of 2002, Elder Thomas received a Bachelor of Social Work degree (BSW) from Morgan State University, with a concentration in Social Work. He then furthered his education and was awarded the Master of Divinity degree from Howard School of Divinity in Washington, DC, on May 13, 2006.
Elder Thomas’ spiritual growth began in Wayland Baptist Church, under the leadership of Reverend Darnel Johnson, III. In 1990, he was led to move his membership to First Mount Olive Freewill Baptist Church, under the anointed leadership of Bishop Oscar E. Brown. In November of 1994, at First Mount Olive Freewill Baptist Church, he preached his initial sermon.
On October 3, 1997, Elder Thomas married his soul mate, the former Ms. Michelle Antoinette Barrett. God blessed this union with two beautiful, gifted, and talented daughters: Aniya Lenae and Nia Morgan. Elder and Lady Michelle Thomas deem quality family time as a gift of precious joy.
In May of 1998, Elder Thomas humbly and gratefully assumed the position of First Assistant to Bishop Oscar E. Brown. In this position, he was blessed and became a blessing to the overall ministry of First Mount Olive Freewill Baptist Church.
Again, God bestowed His favor upon Pastor Thomas. On December 8, 2004, the Charity Community Church of God, a house filled with the sweet love of Jesus, unanimously voted him to serve as their pastor. Both he and the Charity family are energized about the great things that God has in store for them.
In just eight short years, under Pastor Thomas’ anointed leadership, the congregation has grown and new ministries have birthed or merged while others have been revitalized or expanded. Several building renovation projects were initiated, funded, and completed. Today, new projects are on the drawing table.
With each passing day, Pastor Thomas is more determined than ever to fulfill God’s purpose and plan for his life. He honors and praises God the Father for all He has done and continues to do in his life and the lives of His people.
